Abstract

Introduction: The integration of pharmacogenomics into clinical practice has the potential to optimize therapeutic outcomes and improve individualized medical care. The aim of this article is to present fundamental aspects of pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics, addressing that pharmacology as its main role in blood diseases.

Methodology: For the qualitative research, data collection techniques were used, highlighting the use of bibliographic managers and search engines such as PubMed, Scielo, Scopus, Google Scholar, Dial net, among others.

Results: Based on the 20 articles selected in the bibliographic search, two narrative topics were identified.

Discussion: The clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics in the management of blood diseases requires the collaboration of multiple disciplines, including hematology, genetics, and clinical pharmacology. In addition, resources, training, and clear policies are needed to ensure the appropriate and ethical implementation of pharmacogenomics in the care of patients with blood diseases.

Conclusion: By identifying these genetic variants, the can select appropriate drugs, adjust doses, and predict potential opposite effects, thereby improving the efficacy and safety of treatment in blood diseases.
