Abstract

Genetic variability significantly influences drug response, ranging from effectiveness to toxicity, meaning that different individuals or patients respond differently to the same drug. This is due to genetic and non-genetic characteristics that make the individual unique. Pharmacogenomics is the study of the molecular and genetic bases that influence drug response. Its objective is to provide a personalized treatment that achieves greater efficacy and safety, allowing the health professional to select the correct pharmacological treatment and adjust the dose according to the specific characteristics of the patient in order to achieve a favorable evolution.
